–Carly, to Sonny.
Recaplet for Monday, April 23, 2007:
- CJC decides too many people know his secret so he plans to kill Patrick. Am I a bad person if I went “yay!” during that scene? Robin and Nikolas convince CJC not to kill anyone.
- Carly brings Sonny his birthday gifts from The Boys. They share a moment, kiss, and then Carly leaves.
- Sam and Jason struggle with the Thugs. Sam gets the drop on one of the gunmen and kills him. Amelia, wrapped up in her own Daddy issues, can’t see that Sam was defending herself and can only see that Sam shot and killed someone, like she did with Bill Monroe.
- Jax gets a call from his brother Jerry, who turns out to be CJC!! OH MY FUCKING GOD! They turned Jerry Jacks into a fucking sadistic sociopath!!!!

CJC says that too many people know the secret and that means there are more chances of the secret being exposed. The quickest way to stop that is to eliminate the newest aspect. He pulls a gun on Patrick. Robin steps in front of Patrick. CJC quips that he’s getting a twofer. Nikolas tells Robin to get out of the way. Robin won’t. CJC tells Robin to move to her left then so that he can line up the shot perfectly in order to shoot them both. Nikolas tells CJC that there’s no need to shoot Patrick. He won’t risk Robin’s life by doing anything stupid. Yeah, I wouldn’t make that bet, Nikolas. Robin says that they’ll all stick to the plan so no one has to die. CJC calls the idea a trifle optimistic but says okay. He allows Patrick to go back to GH but warns Patrick that if the truth comes out, Robin pays the price. He then shoots the gun at them and misses. He tsk-tsks that his gun is still pulling to the left.

Carly apologizes to Sonny for sending The Boys away for the weekend. She says she’ll go and get them tomorrow but Carly says he’s okay. He asks why she’s there. She tells him she didn’t want him to be alone. She brought him the gifts from The Boys and she knows that they’d want him to open them. He does. Morgan gives Sonny his Lightning McQueen car. Michael gives Sonny a picture of Carly. Sonny says that he now has something to remember Carly by. Carly says that they’ll see each other all the time, just like now. Sonny says that it’ll be limited to those 5 minutes between picking up and dropping off The Boys. Carly tells Sonny he has to stop the push and pull. Sonny asks if that’s what she really wants. He kisses her. She breaks it off. Carly tells him that he uses her love for him as a way to suck her back in and it’s not fair. Sonny asks her if she thinks it’s easy for him to give her up. She says that he has to since she can’t. Sonny says that all he ever wanted is for her to be happy. He pauses and then tells her that he hopes she will be. She leaves.

Elizabeth tells Lucky that Nikolas should be the baby’s godfather. Lucky says that Nikolas is already the uncle. So what? Siblings often make their other sibs their baby’s godwhatevers. He thinks it’ll be way to thank Jason for all that he’s done for them. Elizabeth wonders if Lucky is okay with Jason having a permanent tie to their family. Lucky knows that it would raise eyebrows and it may even be seen as a conflict of interest down at the station (duh.) but Jason’s been a good friend. There’s a knock on the door. It’s Emily. She’s popped in for some friend time between hospital shifts. Lucky want her opinion about making Jason the godfather. Emily and Elizabeth share a look. Emily says Jason would probably be honored but what about Nikolas? Lucky gets a call before he can answer. He has to go to work. There are reports of shots fired. Elizabeth tells him to be safe and he leaves. Emily’s all “what the hell was that about?” Elizabeth’s all “I know, right!?” Lucky thinks Jason deserves it as thanks. Emily’s all “awkward.” Elizabeth feels guilty because Lucky doesn’t know that she and Jason slept together. Emily thinks Elizabeth has to tell him sooner or later or else Jason will be the godfather.
Everyday Hereos Set
TWBT #1 shoots at Sam. Jason grabs her and pulls her behind a desk. How did he miss both Sam or Amelia? For God’s sake, he was only 3 feet away from them! Amelia just stands there (Guess she’s not paying attention to the whole concept behind Everyday Heroes, now is she?) until Jason yells “Get down!” and then she hides behind the desk. She gets on her cell phone to call the cops to 357 Grand Avenue. Jason struggles with TWBT #1 while Sam gets the drop on TWBT #2 and hits him with a big pole. He drops his gun and Sam jumps on him. Amelia just watches this all, frightened out of her wits. TWBT #2 throws Sam off him to the floor. He steps towards her, she picks up the gun and shoots him. Say what you want about Sam, but she’s a damn good shot. She managed to kill 2 guys (Diego and this guy) with one shot. Jason and TWBT #1 are still struggling over the gun when it goes off and TWBT #1 drops like a tons of bricks.

Jax meets Lady Jane there. She was traipsing around the Rainforest but decided to come back to town to see how things were going with Jax and Carly and to find out about Jerry. Jax tells her that her timing is good since he and Carly are getting married on Friday. Lady Jane is glad to hear that. She asks about Jerry. Jax says he never actually saw Jerry. He’s sort of resentful about that because while he was bailing Jerry out in Siberia, Carly and Sonny got married and then formed a stronger bond because of the McHostage situation. Lady Jane says she was in Port Charles when Sonny shot Alcazar and the marriage couldn’t have been avoided but the bond between them obviously wasn’t as strong as the bond between Carly and Jax. Jax is happy about that.

CJC tells Robin and Nikolas that Patrick better not screw this up for them. Robin says that Patrick is used to being under pressure so he won’t say anything. CJC tells her to go to GH and keep an eye on Patrick. Remind him of what he has to lose. Robin leaves. Nikolas wants CJC to indulge him for a moment. How long does CJC expect this to take? CJC says that it’ll take as long as it needs to in order for him to settle into his new life. Nikolas points out that Sonny and Jason would like to see him dead. CJC asks what the point is. Nikolas says that a new identity won’t stop a bullet. He wonders if CJC could be so ignorant as to think this will play out the way he wants. CJC wonders if Nikolas is so dumb that he keeps trying the same tactics with CJC but it never works. Nikolas says that he has holdings all over the world. Once he gets the new identity, his base of operations could be anywhere. CJC says that Port Charles suits him just fine. The only way he’s leaving is if Robin or Patrick mess up. Then he’ll kill them all and leave. He walks out.
Everyday Heroes Set
The Coroner tells Lucky that TWBT #2 is dead. TWBT #1 was shot but will survive. Jason is holding Sam. Amelia’s standing over with Cruz. Lucky asks what happened. Jason says he can’t say anything without his attorney there. Lucky says that Amelia’s already giving her statement so if Jason’s matches her, there won’t be a problem. Jason won’t say anything. Lucky says he’s just making things harder. Jason tells Lucky that he knows that he can’t say anything. Lucky gets perturbed. “Why trust the cops when you can handle it yourself, right?” Lucky wants to give Jason the benefit of the doubt but he’s making it hard. I think it was established a long time ago, back when Jason was just starting out in the crime business, that because of his brain injury, he shouldn’t say anything without an attorney because he can’t lie or something like that. Like, lies of omission are okay but he can’t flat out lie. I wonder if anyone else but me (and obviously this scene’s writer) remembers that because Lucky sure doesn’t.
Cruz asks Amelia what happened. She gives her viewpoint of what happened. Cruz calls Sam over to ask her some questions. Amelia’s kind of hysterical and blurts out “She picked up a gun and shot him!”

Elizabeth brings Emily a cup of tea. She asks how Emily is holding up with the whole Nikolas thing. She can’t believe that Robin and Nikolas would do this to her. Emily says that as painful as this is, at least Nikolas is being honest with her. Elizabeth says she seems to be handling it well. Emily says that she hasn’t had time to think about it since she’s being worked to the bone. She leaves to go back to GH.
GH – 10th Floor Nurses’ Station
Patrick’s on the phone, ordering up the lab results of the toxin scan Robin had done. Noah comes up and complains about Ford’s policy. Patrick agrees with him but doesn’t have time to deal with it right now. Noah notices the shiner Patrick has. Considering how many times CJC punched him, you’d think it’d be worse. Noah hopes that Patrick isn’t backsliding into his old ways just because he and Robin broke up. Patrick says it’s more complicated than a broken heart. Robin comes up and gathers some information. Patrick informs her that he made copies of the “special project” she’s working on. She gets mad at him. He says that if they work together, they can isolate what they need to and turn in CJC. Robin tells him to mind his own business and don’t help her. Noah tells them both to drop the drama and focus on work. Emily comes off the elevator in time for Noah’s beratement of them. He tells them that Ford is making changes and MedCam is angling for a buyout. GH can’t afford to have unprofessional doctors. Robin agrees and says it’ll never happen again. She leaves. Patrick tells Noah that some personal situations are more important. He leaves. Oh. My. God. Patrick’s attitude is going to get them all killed. This guy really has no regard for anyone but himself. When Robin “broke up” with him, he got all snotty with her and wouldn’t be professional at work. But even with knowing why Robin did what she had to do and why she was acting the way she was, he hasn’t gained perspective. It’s still all about him. Instead of realizing that people might find his behavior odd and knowing that he can’t say anything, he chooses to attack, thinking that people should just accept what he’s telling them, when he clearly didn’t do that with Robin. Honestly, I don’t see what’s appealing about this guy at all. Noah wonders if he was too harsh on them. Emily says that he was being honest and it needed to be said. She can’t imagine that it’s easy to still have to work with someone you used to date.
Everyday Heroes Set
Sam is talking with Cruz. Jason watches from a distance. Amelia comes up behind him and tells him that it’s one thing for her to build a show around a courageous person who saved the lives of hostages but it’s quite another to have to stop the news about a gangster’s girlfriend who shot and killed a man to protect her boyfriend. Jason doesn’t want Sam to lose her job over this. Amelia tells Jason to stay away from Sam. Don’t come to the studio, don’t take her out to dinner, don’t be seen with her in public. In fact, break up with her or else her career will be dead before it starts. Lucky comes over and says that Mayor Floyd is there because Amelia called him. Amelia says that Mayor Floyd will understand the importance of containing the situation. Or he will once she explains it to him. She says there’s no need to keep Jason there. Lucky tells him he’s free to go. Jason goes to get Sam to go home, but Amelia wants her to stay. This is a PR nightmare and they have to do damage control. Sam says she’ll see Jason at home. Jason tells her Milo’s outside. They kiss. Jason leaves. mouth wipe #14.

Carly comes home. She looks at the picture of The Family and puts it in a drawer. Jax comes home. They talk of wedding plans. Jax tells her that Lady Jane is in town. Carly tells Jax that she feels bad about missing Sonny’s birthday. Jax asked if, when she went to give him The Boys’ presents, she invited him to the wedding. She says no but that they talked and cleared things up.
GH- Doctor’s Locker Room
Robin comes in and tells Patrick to stop being nice to her. Patrick tells her that the sooner they find the counter agent, the better. Robin says that they can’t antagonize CJC or else he’ll kill them. Patrick says he’s glad to know that Robin didn’t bail on him. She tells him that he’s stuck with her. They kiss and Emily sees it.
Everyday Heroes Set
Amelia lays into Mayor Floyd. He held a press conference, touting Sam as a hero. If the local news airs this shooting story, they’ll use his footage. That will make his constituents question his stance on organized crime. Plus, City Officials will blame him for lack of revenue because Amelia will have to move production back to Manhattan. Other companies will follow suit. Mayor Floyd pulls Lucky aside to have a “chat” with him. Sam tells Amelia that she is really good at this. Amelia says she’s not about to let one incident undo all the plans she has for Sam. Mayor Floyd comes back and tells her it’s been taken care of but should Sam or her boyfriend leave anymore bodies in their wake, all bets are off. Amelia thanks him for his cooperation. He leaves. Sam wants to leave now as well. Amelia tells her to come back tomorrow around 1pm. Sam agrees and then says she wants to check on Jason. Amelia asks why, when Sam was the one who shot and killed a man. Amelia: “Doesn’t it bother you that someone died because of you?”

Jason comes in and tells Sonny what happened at the set. They discuss taking out Alcazar but Sonny wants to wait until after Carly’s wedding. Sonny admits that when Carly came by to bring him the gifts, he thought she had changed her mind. Instead, Carly asked him to let her go. Jason says that she means it this time. Sonny says yeah, so he did it. Jason figures that stepping out of the way is the best thing to do.

Elizabeth is folding clothes when Lucky comes home. Elizabeth asks him what happened. Lucky tells her about the shooting. She asks if everyone’s okay. Lucky says that they are, this time. He realizes that Jason can’t be the godfather of their baby. Elizabeth hugs him and tells him he’s being a good protective dad.

Jason’s on his bike. He starts to make a phone call but then hangs up. He rides off.

Montage of Carly and Sonny clips, both happy and sad. Sonny leaves office.

CJC is reading the paper when Nikolas gets off the phone. He tells CJC that he is now in residence in London. Your given name was Yuri Grinkov and was legally changed to James Brosnan 5 years ago. CJC thinks a name change is in order. Nikolas: “Why? Is James Brosnan a little too 007 for you?” CJC says the name doesn’t matter. He’s had several and he’s already on his second face. He’s not sure he wants to change both though. Nikolas tells him that he might not have much of a choice. His face is ingrained on all the people who were McHostages. CJC has to have surgery or risk recognition. CJC says he hasn’t had this face very long. Plus, he’s not a fan of being under anesthesia. Nikolas says it must be exhausting not to have anyone you can trust. CJC says he has a fail safe in place. Nikolas leaves.

Carly and Jax are going over the guest list. Carly wants to know why they’re inviting the Qs. Jax figures that Lulu will bring Dillon so the rest of the Qs should be invited. Jax’s phone rings. He says hi to Jerry. Cut to . . . CJC, saying his to his little brother!
Okay. I’m going to say this once and then let it go. I don’t like this at all. Why does CJC have to be related to someone in PC? Couldn’t he have just been a random bad guy who came to town to do business with Alcazar? And for the love of all that’s green on this Earth, WHY WHY WHY did TPTB make CJC Jerry Jacks? I’m calling shenanigans! Jerry was a nice guy who occasionally ran afoul of bigger criminals. He wasn’t some sadistic sociopath. I can see taking a lobby full of people hostage when the silent alarm to the vault has been triggered because he wanted what was in that vault. However, making them play the dumb games and then shooting Robin? Jerry Jacks wouldn’t do that. Yeah, I suppose you can explain it away saying that a lot can happen to a person in 7 years but given that we haven’t seen Jerry’s descent into CJC, I’m not buying it. Now, I will say that the writers managed to give adequate clues (verbal and visual) about CJC being Jerry so this didn’t come completely out of left field, so I will give them their props on that. I just don’t like the twist that James Craig/Brosnan is Jerry Jacks.
