–Alan, to Monica

Recaplet for Tuesday, January 23, 2007:
Jason has Spinelli search for information about Alcazar’s shipment. He realizes, based off Spinelli’s findings, that the shipment coming through will be something small.
Alan and Monica confront each other about Rick Webber and both realize that neither killed Rick.
Alexis decides to fight Ric. Personally, I’m advocating for putting a hit on the asshole, but that’s just me.
Lucky continues to battle his pill addiction by carrying a bottle around with him instead of throwing them down the drain. He also confronts Maxie several times.

Patrick’s Apartment
I’m not going to spend my time recapping each one of these scenes that deal with Robin and Patrick so I’m going to short track it for you. Pete comes over and dogs on Patrick for letting Robin decorate his apartment. He’s busted when Robin reveals that she lives there now. After Pete leaves, Robin wants to do some more shopping for knickknacks (don’t even get me started on my dislike for knickknacks. Patrick has a funny line about not knowing a knick from a knack and a paddywack. I probably should’ve used that line for the subject but I don’t want to encourage this storyline.). Robin leaves for the hospital. She bumps into Noah. She mentions that they’re living together. He’s happy for them. Meanwhile, back at the apartment, Pete comes back, trying to get Patrick to go to Vegas. They apparently made Man Vows/Laws in college. Robin comes home, overhears, and tells Patrick he can go if he wants. Noah comes by with a housewarming gift. Pete makes a snide comment about Patrick reconciling with his father. Seriously, what is Pete’s problem? Okay, I can get him not liking Robin because he feels threatened that he’ll lose his friend, but what’s up with not wanting Patrick to be friendly with his dad? Patrick decides to be contrary and decides to go to Vegas. Robin calls Lainey and says that she and Kelly need to clear their schedules because they’re going on a road trip. From NY to NV? In the middle of winter? I hope “road trip” just means “going on vacation and flying there.” I just don’t understand why they don’t go to Atlantic City. It’s just as gaudy and closer. Although, I could see not wanting to go to New Jersey in winter.

Kelly’s Diner
Georgie pours coffee for Lucky. She wants to apologize for Maxie. Maxie and Cruz come in, laughing. Lucky silently seethes. Maxie and Cruz sit at a table. Lucky silently seethes. Maxie and Cruz discuss how he saved her life so he’s responsible for her now. She asks why he was out measuring cross walks anyways. He says he fell afoul of DA Lansing. Maxie calls him a toad and offers to have Mac talk to Ric. Lucky can seethe silently no longer and tells Maxie to stop. She should be hanging her head in shame, not coming on to Cruz. Maxie tells Lucky to get over himself. Cruz diffuses the situation by telling Lucky they have a crime scene to get to. Outside, Cruz asks Lucky what his problem is. If Maxie wants to let off steam by flirting, let her. She’s not his problem anymore. Lucky warns Cruz that Maxie is a liar. Cruz assures Lucky he’s not getting involved with Maxie. Oh, Powers That Be, please let that be true! Lucky tells Cruz that he’d deserve what he got if he did. Cruz goes to get the car. Lucky pulls a bottle of pills out of his jacket pocket. Seriously, dude? You’re not wearing the same outfit every day so what are you doing? Transferring the bottle all the time, same as your wallet?
Back inside the diner, Georgie lays into Maxie about dragging Cruz into all this. Maxie thinks Cruz is a nice guy and if it bothers Lucky, well, that’s just icing on the cake. Georgie thinks Maxie needs to review this thing she has for cops. Everything that’s happened since Jesse’s death has been about recreating that relationship. Maxie gets really quiet and won’t talk about it. Georgie says that the way she’s been living doesn’t honor what Jesse and Maxie had. He’s gone and he’s not coming back and Maxie’s not going to find what they had by sleeping her way through the PCPD. Of course Maxie has a things for cops. Frisco started out as a cop and then became a super spy. Mac’s a cop. Robert’s a super spy (although she probably has less contact with him). Maxie’s always had a crush on Lucky (way before Elizabeth came into the picture). So it seems natural that she would gravitate towards the cops.

Lakehouse
Diane comes over and tells Alexis that it would be a mistake to fight Ric on the possession charges. She tells Alexis to plead no contest to a misdemeanor drug charge, pay the fine, go home. Alexis points out that Diane was the one who suggested the crusade of fighting Ric. Diane says, yes, as a negotiation tactic. Alexis wants to do this, not only for her kids, but maybe it will help change the medical marijuana laws in the state. Diane says that could take years. Alexis: “It’s nice to have something to look forward to.” She also says that the whole thing will make headlines and it will paint Ric as unsympathetic to someone who’s sick. Ric’s ambitious and would rather give up his daughter than his political career so he’ll drop the charges.

Sam is on her way to visit Alexis before going to work. Jason stops her to tell her that someone tried to kill Sonny so he wants her to be careful. He fills her in on the sniper and how it has something to do with the shipment, so Sonny’s operations are going to lay low for a while and see what happens. He’d like her to stay home for the next couple of days. Sam can’t take leave from a job she just started. She thanks him for trying to keep her safe. They kiss. Spinelli comes downstairs and tries to sneak past them but Jason grabs him. Spinelli tells him to mind his business and Jason says Spinelli is his business today. Sam: “Well, it looks like I get to leave – ha ha – and you get to stay.” She promises Jason she’ll check in and leaves. Jason turns to Spinelli. He’d like The Jackal to find out what he can about Alcazar’s shipments. I don’t know if I’ve said this before but I like that Spinelli’s living with Jason and Sam. He’s like their adopted teenage son (except that he’s over 18) and I figure if they can “raise” him, they should be okay with a child (except that I’m not thrilled with the idea of Sam and Jason having a baby). Although, I don’t know why Spinelli doesn’t just live with his parents. Maybe we’ll get more back story on him later on down the line.

GH – 10th Floor
Monica wants to know why Alan paged her. He talks about some board meeting and some presentation she has to give. Basically, they bicker like an old married couple. Monica tells Alan to figure out how to cover his own butt.

Lulu and Dillon discuss the murder. They wonder if Rick did make trouble for someone else. Maybe he had a gambling problem. Lulu says she’ll have Spinelli check Rick’s accounts for a money trail. Dillon tells her to have fun with that. She asks him where he’s going. He’s going to rule out Alan as a suspect.

Spinelli’s working and talking to Jason. Jason’ all “how about you shut up and keep working?” There’s a knock on the door. It’s Lulu. Jason looks at her, then looks past her into the hallway, then back at her, all without saying a word. It’s really quite amusing. Lulu: “yeah, ok. This is the part where you say, ‘Hi Lulu. How are you? Won’t you come in?’ “ Jason asks her what she wants. She comes in and says she’s taking Spinelli off his hands. Jason says he’s using him. Spinelli’s flattered that they’re fighting over him. Lulu points out the whole slew of computer geek crooks Jason’s got on his payroll, but Spinelli’s all she’s got. Jason asks for what. Spinelli says that Lulu thinks Alan and/or Monica kills Rick Webber. Lulu tells Jason not to listen to Spinelli as he sometimes gets confused. Spinelli objects to that comment. Jason sends Spinelli upstairs. Lulu confesses. Jason doubts it was Monica or Alan. Lulu says he doesn’t think they did because, even though he’s him, he still has feelings for them. She knows her mom didn’t do it though. She figures if she can prove Laura’s innocence, it will bring her back. Jason doesn’t think so because Laura’s condition is physical. Lulu confirms this but says that maybe being exonerated will bring her back. Jason tells her about his experience when he was injured and that he’ll never be the way he was. I wonder if Steve Burton wanted his character to change or if it was the writers’ choice and he went with it. Lulu asks if he thinks she’s being irrational. She knows that her mom will never come back so it’s just a stupid fantasy. Jason says it’s not stupid because it’s her mom and she just wants to know the truth.

Q Mansion – Den
Dillon confronts Alan. First he plays it all subtle, mentioning the tree outside the nursery. When that doesn’t work, Dillon says that Alan probably isn’t into killing the tree since it’s near the nursery and he saved Rick and Monica. Alan says he’d squash Rick like a bug. Dillon gulps.

LakeHouse
Alexis fills Sam in on what’s going on. Sam says blackmail is the answer. They’ve got Spinelli so they could do anything. Alexis says that, as tempting as that sounds, she’s got dignity so she won’t stoop to his level.

Metro Court
Lucky and Cruz are there to investigate a purse snatching. Oh for fuck’s sake! Detectives wouldn’t be looking into a purse snatching unless it became a bigger issue. The first officers on the scene would be Beat Cops. Could the writers possibly try to get it at least a little bit right? Lucky talks with Davis, while Cruz interviews the witnesses, one of whom is Maxie. She gives Cruz a detailed report. Lucky pulls her aside to yell at her. She tells Lucky to get over himself.
Meanwhile, the Female Desk Clerk (aka FDC) tells Cruz that the perps waited until the guests had taken their stuff out of the vault. Cruz is like “Vault? Why not Safe?” She describes the Vault.

Spinelli asks Jason not to be mad at Lulu. Jason says it’s Lulu’s business, not his. He asks Spinelli what he found. Spinelli cross-checked and all the ways to transport a big shipment are closed so his guess is that the shipment is something small. Jason figures out that maybe small enough that one person can carry it, which means it’ll be easy to steal, so security will be pivotal.

Q Mansion – Den
Alan and Monica decide to be honest with each other. Monica says she knows that Alan killed Rick. Alans’ all “No, you did.” Monica’s all “I didn’t, you did.” They both realize that neither of them killed Rick. Then they wonder who did, if it wasn’t Laura.

Kelly’s Diner
Lulu tells Dillon that Spinelli will be by later. Dillon is convinced it’s Alan. Lulu can’t believe that someone outside the mob would actually kill another human being. Dillon wonders why Alan would let Laura take the blame though. Lulu thinks she needs to make this more about her and less about Laura and live in the real world. Dillon says the real world is overrated. He thanks her for bringing him into the mystery and making him comfortable in his own skin again. Lulu’s got a big smile on her face. Spinelli comes in. Rick was on the receiving end of a major payoff, so maybe the blackmailer got tired of paying.

ShadyBrook
A nurse is on the phone with a mystery person, filling them in on what happened with Laura.

Sam comes home to find Jason on the computer. She asks what he’s looking at. He tells about the stuff Spinelli found. He asks about Alexis. Sam tells him and wants him to promise that if they have a kid and something happens, they won’t use the kid as a weapon. He promises.
